Who is REvolution Computing?
REvolution Computing is the leading commercial provider of software and support for the statistical computing language known as "R." Our products enable statisticians, scientists and others to derive meaning from large sets of mission-critical data in record time, and to create predictive models that help to answer their most difficult questions. At REvolution Computing, "We do the math."
New to REvolution R?
REvolution Computing was founded to promote the use of R in commercial environments, and REvolution R —our enhanced distribution of open-source R from the R project —is available for download.
We also offer paid subscriptions to REvolution R Enterprise with additional features and professional support.
While the open-source R Project is at the bleeding edge of statistical research and development, we use only releases of R from the open-source community that have proven stable and reliable over time. To make it easy to integrate with existing software environments, REvolution R uses a commercial-grade installation system, and we monitor the open-source R project to identify and incorporate any critical bug fixes and make them available to you with simple update process.
REvolution R runs many computationally-intensive programs faster, especially on multiprocessor systems. REvolution R is built with high-performance compilers and linked with computational libraries that take advantage of multiple processors simultaneously to reduce the time to complete many common mathematical operations. You do not need to modify your code to benefit from these optimizations.
The Evolution of
R
REvolution renders R practical for mainstream, commercial, and regulated use. R evolved from the R Project for Statistical Computing , the leading open source platform for statistical computing. It is a comprehensive analysis environment, featuring an integrated suite of software facilities for data manipulation, calculation and graphical display. R is a GNU open source implementation of the S language and environment developed at Bell Laboratories by John Chambers and colleagues. In 1999, the Association for Computing Machinery presented its Software System Award to Dr. Chambers for the design and development of S. The ACM citation stated that "S has forever altered the way people analyze, visualize, and manipulate data."
The R Project is an ongoing initiative by the open source community, involving an international ecosystem of academics, statisticians, data miners and others committed to the advancement of statistical computing. Through the contributions of this community, innovations in methodology can be rapidly incorporated and disseminated. R users can participate in this vibrant statistical research community by using, creating, and contributing extensions known as "packages." |
